DONATED TOYS SENT TO ROMANIA
18th Aug 2007

Romanian children were bowled over by gifts taken over from the UK.
Toys and games were gathered by people in Shoscombe and driven over to children in Romania by Steve Scott and Tony both Rotary members from Single Hill. Many of the toys were donated by BrightMinds based in Radstock and a complete Kindergarten from Peasedown was given.

Anne Scott, who helped collect the goods and take them to the Roma families there, said the response had been wonderful.
"They were overawed by the number taken," she said.
"The children didn't know how to play with them.
"There was a really impressive reaction, especially to the computer."
She added that the group had taken over everything people might expect to find in a pre-play school in the UK.
This included a farm set, jigsaws and logic games.
"They were completely overwhelmed. I felt really positive," she said.
The village started raising money for Education for Children in Need after they heard from two residents.
Chris and Lee Martin told others about the work being done by the charity in Romania and encouraged them to start supporting its work.
