"I feel i am living in a fairy tale. I have seen the sea and seen a pantomime. I want to go back and learn and get a good job"..11 year old Emanuel Dragomir "I liked seeing Father Christmas and getting a present .. i never had a present before." 9 year old Dennis Radu "This has been the best experience of my life. | How
has this trip helped the children from Romania? The children chosen for this visit have been on our program for almost a year. Through camps and activities and monitoring their school progress we have raised their self-esteem and confidence and given them a real chance in life. When they go back to Romania they will still have to live with poverty but we will continue to work with these children and many others long term, to help their education and one day eventually change their lives. How will this visit help our young people? Being involved first hand and making a difference their lives. Being part of the ‘bigger picture’ Giving chance to young people to experience the ‘feel good’ factor in volunteering. Giving young people ‘ownership’ of the project Help young people to be more aware of cultural issues and discrimination. |
